After a slow five episode start, and a turbulent five episode run, we have finally reached the breaking point of the season - the penultimate episode. And what an episode it was.
Dexter and Lumen's new relationship as lovers was heavily played on during this episode, in a number of scenes, and it is quite evident that Dexter has genuine feelings for Lumen now. However, after all the turbulent events that occured during this episode, one has to ask - will their relationship, and their lives for that matter, survive?
Three major plot points were developed during this episode. First off the bat - Dexter's developments. After discovering that he and Lumen are being watched, Dexter spent most of the episode attempting to track down the location of the surveillance equipment. However, once he managed to finally locate the equipment, Dexter gets tasered by Stan Liddy and wakes up in the back of the surveillance van near the oil docks.
After discovering the truth between Quinn and Liddy's friendship, Dexter manages to overpower Liddy in a struggle and stabs him with his own knife. The most suspensful moment of this episode was the immediate aftermath of this event, as Dexter was inside the surveillance van with a dead Liddy while Quinn was making his way around the van, trying to see if Liddy was inside. Luckily for Quinn, he gave up on searching and returned to the Homicide department - but it was certainly a close call. A single drop of blood fell from within the van onto Quinn's shoe, but he didn't notice. Whether this will affect the inevitable discovery of Liddy's body and Quinn's innocence - we will have to wait and see.
The second major plot point in the episode was Deb's progression in the Barrel Girls case, and their link to Jordan Chase. After managing to find a link between all four of Lumen's rapists and Jordan Chase, along with some significant evidence that Alex Tilden had been murdered in the house next door to his, the Homicide department officially began its investigation into the supposed vigilantes. One more interesting theory is that Deb believes that the thirteenth raped victim is getting help from a man, most likely a brother or boyfriend. One more potential link to Dexter and Lumen.
Lastly, Lumen's developments with Emily Birch proved to be confrontational at the very least. Upon visiting Emily, Lumen comes face to face with Jordan Chase. After some heated arguments, Jordan grabs a poker from next to the fire place and, in a moment of frustration, kills Emily, while Lumen scurries outside. However, it is evident in the last scene of the episode that Jordan captured Lumen after Dexter finds the pocket knife he bought her this episode on the ground outside covered in blood. Whether Lumen is still alive? Next week will provide the answers.
Overall, my final marks for the episode are:

With only one episode to go this season, Dexter fans will have a lot in store for them when the season five finale hits our screens on December 12th. Although Stan Liddy is dead, his body is still locked up inside that van, and it is only a matter of time before someone discovers him. Additionally, Dexter will be focused on getting Lumen, or what is left of her, back from Jordan Chase - whether he will be able to actually take down this man while avoiding the police is another matter entirely.
Here's to a good final week of waiting. Hopefully the finale will prove to be as grand an episode as this week's was!
